Blend
The filler of AVO Syncro Nicaragua comes from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Peruvian Olancho. The wrapper is from Connecticut Ecuador, and the binder is from the Dominican Republic. It's a hand - made cigar priced at about $8 each.
Appearance
The wrapper is medium - brown with a slightly reddish tint under certain lighting. It has a bit of oil, prominent veins and seams, presenting a rustic look. The band with the Avo logo is visually appealing.
Construction
There were no major construction issues. The burn line was mostly even, but there were problems in the first third. The draw was slightly loose.
Flavor
- One third: Features a backdrop of coffee, cedar, and pepper, with a fruity sweetness and a hint of creaminess up front.
- Two thirds: Coffee moves to the foreground, and the sweetness levels with cedar and pepper.
- Three thirds: Coffee strengthens and becomes slightly bitter. The initial sweet note fades, and a note of hay or grass appears.
Value
At $8 per stick, the price is acceptable, but the construction could be better.
The goal of this blend was to “synchronize” the experience of smoking Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos. The Nicaraguan tobacco is from Ometepe, a volcanic island in Lake Nicaragua. Overall, it's an interesting and enjoyable smoke with intriguing flavors, despite some drawbacks.
