Product Introduction
The AVO Limited Edition 2010 was formally introduced to the cigar market in March 2010 to celebrate AVO Uvezian’s 84th birthday, with only 10,000 cigars produced. It was available in boxes of 10, retailing for $150 a box, and now can only be found on the aftermarket. The cigar has an Ecuador wrapper, Dominican Republic filler, and Mexico binder, and is hand - made with a price of $15 each MSRP.
Pre - light
The pre - light ritual was harmonious. The wrapper is smooth, dark, and oily. The double bands have brown, silver, and cream coloring, but the lettering is sloppy. The cap is round but applied sloppily. The pre - light smell has earthy, chocolate cocoa notes, and the loose airy draw is a bit spicy with cocoa accents. The pre - light score is 9 pts.
Smoking Experience
- One third: It has an effortless draw with a sweet chocolate and cream aroma. The burn starts uneven, and the thick grey smoke brings notes of earth, cocoa, and black coffee. It's an “airy draw” cool smoke.
- Two thirds: There's a faint change to nuts and almonds on the palate. The burn remains uneven, the ash is powdery grey, and the earthiness persists while the nut flavor turns to almond.
- Three thirds: It starts with an unpleasant burnt charcoal taste. After removing the bands, the wrapper leaf tears due to excessive glue. Faint hints of graham cracker and caramel can be detected. The smoking score is 7 pts.
The AVO LE 10 can be a “gift” cigar. However, it has an inconsistent burn and the wrapper tears after band removal.
