Product Introduction

In 2008, Oettinger Davidoff acquired the Camacho brand. In 2013, a relaunch occurred under the 'Bold' name with reblended lines and new packaging. The Camacho Ecuador line was added later.

The Camacho Ecuador Robusto uses Corojo, Criollo Ligero and Pelo de Oro from Honduras and the Dominican Republic as filler, a Brazilian Mata Fina binder, and an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. The factory was changed to Agroindustras Laepe, S.A by Davidoff, and a new factory was opened in 2016.

Taste Review

  • One third: First flavors are salt, coffee, pepper, then evolve to marzipan sweetness with leather, wood, soil, and toast with a peppery aftertaste. Main flavors are sweetness and cedar with some spices and dry leather. Flavors are a bit rough.
  • Two thirds: Flavors get darker. Cedar turns to oak, more pepper. Flavors are better - rounded. Toast shows up halfway.
  • Three thirds: Mainly oak, with pepper, hay, some leather, and pepper.

The cigar has a nice, oily, dark wrapper and a perfectly shaped head. The construction feels good. The cold draw has perfect resistance with a dry wood and tobacco flavor and some spice in the aftertaste. The draw is very good, the ash is light - colored, dense and firm, and the burn is pretty straight. It's a medium - to full - bodied, medium - flavored cigar with a smoke time of two hours and fifteen minutes.
