Product Introduction

The AVO Heritage Short Torpedo is a cigar from the Dominican Republic. It has an Ecuadorian sun - grown wrapper, Dominican filler, and Dominican binder. It's hand - made and costs around $8 each. The Heritage line is a stronger budget blend in the AVO portfolio with multiple sizes.

Appearance

The cigar has a smooth surface with few visible veins, which are very fine. The wrapper is a warm medium - brown color with an oily sheen. There are a few hard patches and it has a chocolate - like aroma.

Construction

The draw is a bit tight, and the initial burn is crooked but can be corrected. The ash is gray striped with black and holds solid.

Flavor

  • First third: Starts with earth, nutty flavors, and a strong punch of black pepper. There's also some initial bitterness that fades, and then cedar and nuts become prominent. The smoke is creamy and aromatic.
  • Middle third: The creamy texture is pronounced. Pepper mostly disappears, and earthy flavors are hard to detect. Nutty and cedar flavors are most prominent, with some lingering bitterness.
  • Final third: Similar to the middle, with nuts and cedar as the main flavors and almost no pepper.

The overall strength is medium.

Value

It's more affordable than many AVO cigars, but construction issues and intermittent bitterness reduce its value slightly.
