Product Introduction

The Ashton Cabinet Selection No. 6 is from the Dominican Republic, handmade. It has a Connecticut Shade wrapper, Dominican Republic filler and binder. It costs $10 each.

The blend uses 4 - 5 year old Dominican filler, with no less than six different tobaccos. The Connecticut shade wrapper is aged for an extra year, having an elegant palamino color. Seven years pass from seedling to finished cigar.

Pre - light Inspection

The wrapper is lightly golden, sandy brown with a couple of green tobacco spots and two soft spots. It has a round triple - seam cap and an eye - catching band. The pre - light smell has a bold sweet honey and crisp bourbon tone, and the cold draw shows honeydew and wheat notes.

Smoking Experience

  • One third: It has a mild opening with tasting notes of oats and grassy wheat. The burn is uneven, and the aroma is like fresh roasting coffee beans.
  • Two thirds: It moves from mild to mild/medium bodied. Light leather notes emerge, and there's a creamy milk chocolate aftertaste. The burn is still wavy, and the aroma is sensational.
  • Three thirds: It has a stronger leathery texture and a touch of bitterness. The aroma remains a pleasing roasted coffee mix, and the burn straightens out.

It can be considered a mild to medium bodied cigar. It's a nice change from full - bodied cigars, but at $10 each, it may not be bought in boxes.
